Excellent Series for Beginning Readers

I highly recommend this series of books (nibbles, bites, chomps) for encouraging reluctant readers to continue learning to read. This story has captured my 6 year old boy. It's at the level of a step 2 to Step 3 book in other series, and written with short 6-7 pages per chapter (6 chapters total). It's about a boy who is left behind with the babysitter while his family goes off pirating. But then they are captured by Red...
