The Lies That They Tell: A Personal Reflection on the Roman Catholic Church (Revised Edition)

There are times when the absolute truth must be told, and for me, this is such a time, even though I know that there will be a huge backlash against me. Sometimes, we have to get into "Good Trouble" by doing the right thing.

I am now in my sixties, I was raised in the Roman Catholic Tradition, I have served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister for about forty years, I have been involved with the Diaconate for twelve years, and I have been an Ordained Permanent Deacon for almost seven years now. I feel compelled to write this because the truth must be told, and I do this with the hope that positive constructive change can be made.
During my life, but particularly during these past seven years I have experienced first-hand the pride, ego, gall, selfishness, lack of self-examination, and blindness of the Roman Catholic Church: an institution that was given the commission to Love and share the Good News, but has instead been a weapon of oppression and terror against so many.
It breaks my heart to share these conclusions with you, but I must speak out on behalf of the many persons that have been victimized by the Roman Catholic Church.
