The Lenten tree contains eighty-two Lenten devotions for children and adults that will enable individuals and families to travel on a meaningful journey through Lent, the season before Easter. Each devotion reveals who Jesus Christ is and what He has done. In addition to these devotions, this book contains illustrations, which may be used to create a special "Lenten tree." Each of the forty-one days has prayers, a memory verse, questions for children, and hymns or songs to coincide with the symbol for the day. Lenten activities are suggested for families to do together during Lent.
We bought this to do as a family devotional during Lent after having done the Jesse Tree Christmas devotional by the same author. My kids loved it and asked for it almost every evening at dinner, so we rarely missed a day. When we did miss a reading and had to double up the next day, they wanted to know why we didn't get to read a devotional from the book at every meal. By the end of the book, I feel they had a good grasp of all the events and symbolism leading up to Easter and at ages 3 and 5, could easily explain the Easter story and its importance to someone else. I can't comment on the adult readings/devotionals as we just did the children's section, but I would highly recommend this to any family looking for a Lenten devotional.
Great for family!

Our family has enjoyed The Lenten Tree; it offers keen insights and presents difficult material at a level that children can understand as well.
