Book Overview

The Laws of Happiness: Love, Wisdom, Self-Reflection and Progress is the eighth volume of Ryuho Okawa's celebrated Laws Series, commencing with 1994's The Laws of the Sun, and endeavors to answer the question, "What is true happiness?" This milestone text introduces four distinct principles, based on the "Laws of Mind" and sourced from Okawa's real-world experience, to guide readers towards sustainable happiness. Okawa's four "Principles of Happiness" present an easy, yet profound framework to ground this rapidly advanced and highly competitive society. In practice, Okawa outlines pragmatic steps to revitalize our ambition to lead a happier and meaningful life.

In Chapter One, to counter states of unhappiness, Okawa reveals the two important purposes of life and encourages readers to nurture a mindset that pledges to turn weakness (negative tendencies) into strength (positive tendencies). Once we accept life's two purposes, we can change the course of life and overcome bouts of unfavorable destiny through our own diligent effort, regardless of circumstance.

Chapter Two elucidates the importance of nurturing happiness in the workplace, while kindling professional aspirations. Okawa introduces practical steps to improve work- life balance and navigate stressful activity without sacrificing peace of mind. Okawa underscores the importance of finding a mission at work, and outlines steps to improve our skills, with tips to boost self-planning and time management efficacy.

Chapters Three and Four offer an in-depth exploration of Okawa's Principles of Happiness - Love, Wisdom, Self-Reflection, and Progress, with recommendations on how to apply them in daily personal relations.

Chapter Five introduces the ideal world that Okawa aspires to create, based on concepts introduced in his landmark text, The Laws of the Sun. According to Okawa, through individual effort to progress in concert with the "Four Principles of Happiness" introduced in this text, we can collectively harmonize to bring forth a new age - coined by Okawa as The Age of the Sun - where humanity thrives in peace and prosperity.

If you value `HAPPINESS' in life, then READ THIS!

This is a great book written by the spiritual author, Ryuho Okawa. He explains in very simple terms the path to reaching a state of happiness. Not the kind of fleeting happiness you feel one day and then disappears the next. He guides us to a true kind of happiness that can only be felt deep within our souls. ...as the soul is the true nature of our being and happiness is its natural state. It describes that the four principles or paths most important to achieving this kind of happiness is through: 1. The practice of giving love without expectations 2. To seeking true knowledge of ourselves and of the meaning of existence 3. Practicing reflection to understand the mistakes we made in life and to release ourselves from attachment that causes suffering 4. To develop ourselves so that we can help guide others and to become useful in the world - to, ultimately, evolve spiritually We are reaching a stage in our cultures where we are all searching for meaning in our lives. We are beginning to understand that all the wealth and worldly success in life cannot bring us happiness. I believe we are starting to see beyond the superficial conditioning from school and work that the excessive `finanicial profit making' mentality (or in other words, selfish-greed) is not working. This is simply because it is not our true aim or natural state of being. Our natural state of being is to love one another, help one another to grow and become beautiful, good beings who live harmoniously with one another. To cultivate people who are genuinely happy and are passionate in passing on this happiness to as many people as possible so that they too can be happy is, simply, the essence of this book. If you value `happiness' in life and believe that this is the true aim of people then I highly recommend this book to you. It has certainly enlightened me to understanding what true happiness is and how we can use this to make this world a better place for us now and, more importantly, for our children and grandchildren in the future. We need to begin creating cycles of happiness. This is one book that can help us in initiating these cycles. Please read it and enjoy! ...with love, light and happiness. Tony

Much deeper than it sounds

This book might sound like another self-help or new agey type of book but it is much more than that. This book is so clear, practical, and straightforward yet very deep and even esoteric and mystical that it is totally original in it's content compared with other books on personal growth,self-help, or spirituality. The author seems to be speaking at times directly to the reader and then simultaneously in a universal way also. Some of the subject matter in certain chapters really goes deep especially the last one entitled "Believe in the Advent of the Age of the Sun".I hope your open minded if you decide to read this book. It's quite unique.
