PoleStar is a special place with special people and the gods said so. The wizards have disappeared but for Taibishear and the magic is dying and the outside world has found its way onto the lands of the PoleStar Clan. Lady Rega, daughter of Lord Bootro, clan chief of the Clan, has been taken and all her sister Mavens are killed. This is an affront which the Clan cannot accept. Lord Bootro gathers a Clan army, a mercenary general, and the last wizard to track his daughter and return her to her place. This book chronicles the Clan's attempt to rescue Rega, Last Hereditary Maven, and bring her home. The Clan would have its Maven returned and its world be as it has been for a thousand generations.
