The first fifteen Psalms (Psalms 120-134) of this section of the Psalms is entitled "A Song of Ascents" They were designed for the use of the people when going up to Jerusalem on the festival occasions three times a year. As the pilgrims would make their way up the ascent to the Temple compound they would sing these 15 songs in order. The last two psalms, 134-135, form a doxology. These psalms bring the faithful pilgrim from his home to the very Throne Room of God They are not just part of the journey, but actually describe the journey. As you read these beautiful psalms do what the ancient Israelites did; give time for self-examination, letting go of this present world, making up your mind to go to God, determine that you are going all the way, remind yourself of God's previous great works for your behalf, build up your faith in God, testify about God's grace, remember God's protecting hand in your life, encourage others, remind yourself that God chose you, remember where He found you and brought you from, rest in His presence, understand His plan, come together with other believers in unity, then bless the Lord, and bless Him again
