The Ivy reveals the secrets of its kitchen - many of them delightfully simple - for the first time. Known as a theatrical, literary and artistic haunt, in recent times, the restaurant has reached new heights of culinary excellence, while keeping its roots in simple, quick and accessible food, including their justly famous salmon fishcakes. A.A. Gill has combined the recipes with the history and atmosphere of the restaurant which, together with the superb photography in colour and black and white, has made for a beautiful book that will appeal to the cook and non-cook alike.
I love this book. If you're looking for a cookbook - this isn't it. But if you're looking for a peek into what a day in the life in the Ivy (or any other high-end restaurant) is like, then you'll be pleased. Pick it up and just read a page or two about the lunch hour or sit down and read it from cover to cover. Either way, you'll like this book. It provided me with a great insight into the usually never-seen kitchen and backrooms. I highly recommend it.
