Drawing largely from the cuisines of France and Italy, Pickford has created meatless alternatives to some of the classic dishes from these regions, such as red onion soup with goat cheese toasts and... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I bought my first copy of this l'il treasure way back in '93 at a tiny hole-in-the-wall shop called "The Rogue Carrot" in Valdez, Alaska. I've been a chef for 25++ years and have an extensive culinary library and this book hands down for many years has showcased some of the very best food styling and food photography I have ever seen. Pickford's recipes and writing are lovely and Filgate's camera-work really enhances to combine for a visually stunning product! I have returned to a couple of online sources over the years to order a dozen or more copies for friends and co-workers... treat yourself to this book- you won't be sorry! In fact, I predict you'll be easily charmed!
Terrific recipes for all sorts of occasions

I bought a copy of this book when it was first published, and still use many of the recipes. Some are elegant - fancy food for a dinner party, while others are what you want when you come home from work on a weeknight. Most are easy to make. The photographs are terrific, so you stay inspired.
Visually and sensually appetizing- not a dull moment.

Incredible taste sensations. The soups are amazing due mainly to the delectable Veg. Soup Stock that listed on page 45. The French onion soup and the Leek and pea soup with mint are astounding. The photographs elegantly frame each dish and just inspire you to try it yourself.
The fare is table-worthy, and the book bed-worthy.

I would have bought the book for its photos alone. Now, I wonder what could have inspired that photographer, hmmm? I prepared a couple of the recipes and they were great successes, and then gave the book away thinking I could get another one for myself, but alas, it is out of print! Now, all I can do is covet my friend's copy. Bummer.
