A nice sized book for lots of photos. The book is dedicated to the amazing Caesar Glebbeek who was the book's photo researcher and overall project co-ordinator. Though it's not got lots of pages they're used well. I own over 20 Jimi books and this one has numerous photos I've never seen, all anotated with when and where the photo is with only a very few from unknown dates or locations. You get some early childhood photos, about 7 and then the book follows his brief career in order. Fortunately, they liberally quote Jimi to supplement the photos. There's a page with the picture sleeves of his singles, a 1982 interview with Jimi's dad, a discography, official releases and bootlegs, with 17 photos of the jackets many of which I have never seen before. About half the book's photos are color, half black and white. Fortunately they use the full page several times for nice big photos. There's a 1994 interview with Noel Redding and 6 great photos of different issues of UniVibes, Caesar's meticulous magazine dedicated to everything Jimi. If yer a fan of Jimi and, especially, if you like lots of color photos of him both in concert and otherwise and his band, this is definitely worth the investment. It's a little goofy seeing Geoffrey Giuliano and a listing of his other The Illustrated books he's done on the back cover. And some of the text is a bit corny maybe like a hint of that it was possibly written by someone who either English is not their first language although it's perfectly correct or someone who's sorta like some cool person from the world of clubs and music journalism or something. But that slight hint of whatever that is is not a problem, in fact, it's almost charming. What counts is, this is a dandy book chock full of Jimi. Before the appendixes there's a coupla photos of folks at his funeral and some words about it from Noel. Nicely done. I'm delighted by this book. [...]

God knows where a man like Jimi Hendrex came from and where he went when he passed on, but Giuliano's come up with a great inside look at both the legend and the gentleman behind it.
