This is a fantastic book! 512 pages of colorful, detailed, pictures. Catalog of each era and examples of fossils in each. The book is divided into three categories, Young Earth, Life On Earth, The Rise Of Humans. There's a glossary, an index, and a dinosaur list. I even bought one for a friend who saw and delighted in mine! Trust me, you won't be disappointed!!

This book has the same illustrations as when it was published in 1982 by McMillian publishing, and 1999 when it was published by Simon and Schuster.

This huge beautifully illustrated book is one of the best of its type that I have seen. It is well organized into 4 sections: The Changing Globe section, which illustrates the globe as it changed through time, with 17 time periods shown from the Vendian times through to the Quaternary times; The Ancient Worlds section, which covers the different eras from Precambrian to Present, the changes of the planet, its features, the early beginnings and development of life forms with many beautiful color photos and illustrations; The Animal Fact File section which is very well organized and covers animals from jawless fish through to humans with illustrations and facts for each animal; and The Earth Fact File section which has chapters covering geology history, timescale, rocks, plate tectonics, fossils, animal classification list, biographies of geologist, paleontologist, and other scientists, a glossary and a well organized bibliography. This book would be interesting to young and old students alike except perhaps the college professors that teach these subjects. It would be a wonderful addition to any library. The only fault I find in this book is its lack of coverage of the flora of our planet. It would be nice to see the development of plants
