It started with a cake. a rather innocent-looking cake, too, but that cake would open the door to opportunity - and disaster - for sweet-toothed, bargain-savvy Annabelle Pleasanton. In fact, between a... This description may be from another edition of this product.
*raucous laughter* This- book- made- me- laugh- so- hard! I adored it! It was so cute. Utterly non-fantasy (which I usually never read) and yet utterly enjoyable. It's LDS fiction and all about a young woman and just the stresses of her life. Balancing work, church, love, family, and morals. Delightful. It's also a fantastic love story. And it's REAL. Down to earth, I mean. There were a few LDS moments that were slower (even for me, and I am LDS) but these moments gave the book a more... real feel, and added a dimension beyond just comedy.

The Icing on the Cake

I just finished reading The Icing on the Cake by Elodia Strain, and I just loved it! It is what you would consider chick lit. It is a hilarious, fresh story. Annabelle is funny and lovable. It starts as she goes out of her way to buy a particular cake for a company party to impress her boss who then gives her a big assignment she'd been hoping for. She meets handsome Isaac who always seems to catch her at her worst moments. He is assigned as the photographer for her writing assignment. The big assignment is to interview a snobby chef at an exclusive restaurant. She fails miserably twice, one time almost catching the kitchen on fire. This is just one of the many scrapes Annabelle finds herself in. There are also some troublemakers that have it out for Annabelle. Despite all that seems to go wrong, she stays positive. The writing is great with rich details that bring the story to life. Did I mention it was funny? Very funny. I laughed out loud many times. It is definitely one of those stay-up-until 2:00 in the morning until you finish reading kind of books. This is a wonderful novel for first-time author Elodia Strain. I can't wait to see more of her books. Marcia Mickelson marciamickelson.com
Good as a piece of cake

I loved it!! It was a great read. Annabelle is a completely lovable character and Issac is someone you can see yourself falling for. And Rona? Who hasn't had someone like her in their life at one point? The novel did have LDS references, but they weren't the spotlight of the novel. A Fabulous Read!!!! Everyone should pick up a copy, and the sequel which is coming soon!!
