Would a good editor have made enough of a difference?

This book was a disappointment in terms of how the story is told, and how it is written. There is no attempt to be realistic in terms of language used, and the grammar is middling to poor. Even the name of Anne, daughter of Lady Catherine, is not spelled consistently. While the premise is good enough, the story doesn't not really hold the reader's attention. Pity, but there is such a vast array of authors in this genre, some of them very good, that one can easily afford to sidestep this one.
The Houseguest a Pride and Prejudice Vagary

This book was a lot of fun and I thought the author did a really good job of bringing the characters to life. I especially loved Colonel Fiztwilliam in this book and the way he was written. The epilogue at the end did a really good job of tying everyone's story up and overall this book was a great read. I am definitely planning on reading more by this author.
