The stories are about a group of animals who live together in a land far across the sea in a remote island unseen by any humans. The birds and animals live a life without fear of man and are protected from being eaten by one another by the Forest Code. Each story had a moral in that at the end of each story the reader is asked "What can we learn from this story".
