"Dixon supplies a fascinating historical explanation as to why disease and mortality rates differ between blacks and other Americans...these are potentially political issues, and Dixon handles them with grace and sensitivity while mapping lifestyle changes needed for improved health."--Publishers Weekly.
This is an excellent book to read. I have read it and the pages are filled with pure gold. The section on "Improving Our Lifestyle" is packed with information for great health maintenance and healthy living. Another section of great interest is that of "Taking Care of Our Future Health." Barbara Dixon really breaks it down. I had changed my diet a few years ago because of my concerns about the heart disease that runs in my family. This book covers the history of diseases and other health issues with African-Americans. I've ordered this book for several of my family members to read as well.
