Simply good

I have a book case of survival books. I even have other books written by Len McDougall,in which some he repeats some of the materiel from this one. This is simply written and to the point. It is almost light enough to carry in a pack. It is void of sensational survival "tricks." The illustrations (though sparse) are easy to understand. I think it emphasizes survival in winter, which is of interest to me. Len McDougall been at this for a while. I simply like this book. It can be a primer or a condensed wilderness survival handbook.

Nobody knows wilderness survival like Len McDougall

Maybe I'm prejudiced because I've backpacked and snowshoed with him, but I've seen Len McDougall at work in the deep woods, and nobody knows the wilderness like he does. When The Field & Stream Wilderness Survival Handbook came out, I had to have a copy. McDougall did not disappoint, this book is crammed with survival procedures, sound advice, and detailed instructions for being prepared to live through just about any dilemma an outdoorsperson might encounter.
