My 4 year old daughter has loved this book since we first got it when she was about 2. We just kind of found it again after not having read it for a while. I hope that the message will make sense to her as she grows up. She LOVES the book though, and has no problem sitting through it.
So lovely...

My son cannot get enough of this book. He delights in the illustrations and finds something new in them each time we read it. Being only 3, I doubt he fully understands the deeper message of the book - being happy and proud of who you are - but I know he will soon enough and I'm glad this book is here for him.

The pictures are beautiful, and the message is appropriate for children and adults. My fourth grade students love it, and the lesson it teaches helps them to be become more accepting of themselves and others. I've shared it with other teachers who find that it helps their students. It is a wonderful book and I'm grateful to be able to share it with so many children.
Wonderfully didactic, and beautifully illustrated!!!

My 4 year old daughter and I both enjoy reading this book. Contrary to the other reviewer's opinion, my 4 year old finds this book no more difficult or lengthy than Arthur books. If your child enjoys beautiful pictures and lovely storytelling...this book is great! I did think it was interesting that the author chose to make the tree a male...while at least two (maybe all...I'm not sure if the owl is male or female) of the animals that come to it with their "problems" are female.
