The story begins with a motorcycle race at Portland International Raceway where Kyle, an avid racer, faces an accident that leaves him in a coma, suspended between life and death.
As Kyle's consciousness wanders through an alternate reality, he discovers a labyrinth of memories that connect him to those of his past and present. His exploration takes a startling turn when he stumbles upon an experiment in a university's basement involving, among others, his fianc e and best friend. Kyle observes as the team begins to explore entry points into time, which lead to shifts in their perceived realities.
In what appears to be an odd coincidence, Kyle encounters a sentient being that lurks in the depths of the basement's server farm. But this AI has an ulterior motive that is decidedly not in anyone's best interests.
As the experiments progress, it becomes alarming apparent to the team that a single critical mistake could effect cascading changes in time - changes that might threaten their very existences.
