Not enough can be said for the usefulness of this book in helping educators, administrators, school board members, and parents understand the truly essential issues that need to be addressed if we are to truly reform education to meet the academic needs of our children, and subsequently the needs of our country. An easy read, "The Death of Common Sense in Our Schools" lays out the issues that teachers and principals want parents, policymakers (including business leaders who purport to be education experts), and far-removed school administration to understand before they assess blame, or support policies and "pseudo-solutions" to what ails American schools. Teachers, you will feel validated that you are not the only one having to work long hours, and even speed teach, as you try to fit everything in. Parents, you will understand that there are things you can do to help make education meet the needs of your child, rather than the other way around. It is time for the dialogue on school reform to include those who actually work in the schools, who understand a child cannot be reduced to mere statistics.

This book is so awesome. It was recommended by another teacher who purchased the book at a conference. I recommend this book for all teachers.
