What a beautiful book !! The author writes and describes the Island of Guernsey with its cliffs, Beautiful flowers and trees, and the wide ocean below..you almost feel like you can smell all the blooms and salt air.The love that develops between Vivienne and Gunther(German officer) is touching and real ..while all the while , the brutally and suffering of the war is all around them. I cried at the bittersweet ending..wish this story never ended.
Great read

This book had a lovely setting that I would love to visit someday and the story was fascinating and had many diverse characters all connected because of war. There was romance, death, fear, mother's love, fairy tales and old age. The absolute best WWII book I've ever read.
