Wyland, the world's leading environmental marine life artist, has been painting his way into the collective consciousness of people around the globe for over 25 years. His extraordinary paintings & internationally famous "Whaling Wall" murals have exposed millions to the graceful beauty of whales, dolphins & other marine life, as well as to the fragile ecosystems of our oceans. This gorgeous book-a must for marine art collectors--follows Wyland's development as a starving artist to the phenomenal success & international acclaim he enjoys today.
My sister bought me this book as a gift since I love the sea and am great admirer of Wyland. I really love this book. It includes his entire life story from his birth, what inspired his interrested in marine life and how he began his career as a marine-life artist. I was very impressed by his many paintings. Some of which are very detailed, and mostly of his "whaling walls" which are murals done on the sides of buildings. Wyland wanted to introduce the whales and other marine animals to the world in their true "life-size" in this way. He wants to express the beauty and gentlness of these magnificent creatures so he can help people become aware of not destroying ourselves by first saving our oceans, so the whales and other animals will continue to grow and survive. We must all help by cleaning and preserving our oceans, and its animals and not wasting our natural resources, such as recycling and energy saving. It explains about how Whaling Industries should be changed to Whale-watching. This book is also very useful to me, since I am a marine-life artist myself,(an oil painter)and doing my best to paint like Wyland. I need to learn his style of painting or techniques. This book helped me to see his paintings in great details. Because of this book(full of many paintings)my own work has greatly improved. Rehana Farooqi(Chicago, Il.)
