The Art of Work

This book is great. I needed it for a class I was taking and instead of selling it after I completed the course, I kept it. It is in my office. I enjoyed the book so much I decided to keep it.

Great Stimulator for Classroom Discussion

I was assigned to teach this book in a university-level literature class. At first, I thought the title sounded ho-hum, but I can truthfully say I never saw stories, poems, and essays which could stimulate discussion as this one did--and all by big names in literature. Students also were amazed how much of life happens at work and how, in our daily industry, we experience the full range of human experience: love, greed, disappointment, pride, determination, respect, self-respect, opportunity, desire to excel, indignity, betrayal, intimidation, ambition, satisfaction, sensitivity, callousness--you name it! The place of business and industry is the place of the human soul. A wide variety of cultures and eras is included, leading the class to observe that though the time and the place may differ, the human spirit is always the same. Includes biographical sketches of each author and writing prompts on personal work experiences.
