Georgia "Peachy" Archer always thought she was happy with her choices in life: quitting college, marrying young, raising two boys in the same small town where she grew up. But just as Peachy's life is beginning to settle into a careful routine, her sister's life begins to dangerously unravel. Beth Archer chose a different life: fancy apartment in Manhattan, fancy friends, making lots of money. She's been on her own since she was a teenager, and she's still on her own, outgrowing dress styles and boyfriends faster than Peachy can inherit them. But on a visit home one weekend, Beth upends everything Peachy thought she knew about being happy. In the tradition of Jennifer Weiner and Melissa Bank, The Almost Archer Sisters is a refreshingly honest portrait of sisterhood, motherhood, and female mayhem in its many states of grievance, grace, and forgiveness.
I couldn't put this book down!! From beginning to end, I was interested and curious about each character, and I couldn't wait to find out what happened to them. The relationship between the sisters was so real, and written with such compassion that I felt like I knew them. All of the characters could easily resemble a real family, with real pain, and real love. I enjoyed this book so much and I can't wait to see what else Lisa Gabriele has in store. I am truly a fan!!
Honest, funny, real - the sister dynamic explored

So many authors attempt to look at 'female relationships', few manage to capture them. Gabriele does, she doesn't flinch from the intimate cruelty we can inflict on each other, humorously and perfectly capturing the the subtle ways we punish people we love. Though the sisters in this book feel an intense, perhaps unhealthy, loyalty toward each other, it is tested by their differences, shared pain and hidden anger. As a rural housewife and her glamorous big city sister work through their conflicts, Gabriele avoids any cliched idealizations of motherhood and "Sex & the City" type success and delivers a novel that is real - and really good.

I loved this book! The characters each got under my skin and I couldnt stop thinking about them long after I closed the last page (in tears). Their stories, desires, struggles, heartaches and triumphs. What a family this is. This is one beautiful and broken home I would love to be a part of.
