I purchased this book as part of a collection I am creating for friends and family to read and understand the animals I love. It provides wonderful information on the less "intimidating" species, so people like my mother (who is terrified of snakes) can read this and be knowledgable about the creatures I find fascinating.
Great introductory book

This is an easy read with lots of great photos. The first six chapters discuss general basics for feeding, housing, health, breeding, and include a section on picking out an attractive, healthy animal. The last chapter contains all 25 pet profiles including a description, size and lifespan, natural range, captive care and breeding. In a few of the profiles, you see a comparison of animals with similar needs. The only reason I did not give this 5 stars was because in the Blue Tongue Sink section (pg 98), there are two paragraphs covering heating and feeding where the information has been replaced with information from the Bearded Dragon chapter. Over all, the rest of the content makes up for this mistake.
