This is the essential illustrated reference to a wide range of sumptuous textured crochet stitches: choose from bobbles, popcorns, and curlicues; Aran-style cables; ripples and knots, and raised flower and leaf motifs. -Includes over 70 stitch patterns and features multicolored swatch photographs to show how color and texture can be combined to create wonderful effects. -Stitches are organized by method of construction and include easy-to-follow symbol charts and complete row-by-row instructions. -Basic techniques are demonstrated with clear step-by-step illustrations, and a fold-out flap provides a useful reminder of how to work the charts.
As a freeform crocheter I buy as many different stitch guides as I can find and this is now one of my all time favorites. I prefer to work from symbols and the graphs in this book are very clear and easy to use. I also enjoy the different variations on the same stitch. I used the basket-weave for a shawl collar and it's beautiful. The binding is great for keeping the book on the page you're following without having to bend the book in half which I appreciate too. This is definitely a stitch guide to add to your crochet library to expand your vocabulary!!
A must for any avid or beginner crocheter!

This is a fine selection of stitches many of which vary from the usual stitch dictionaries. Great for people thinking of doing freeform. Excellent for crocheters just wanting a wider vocabulary for their work. I bought it on a whim, and couldn't have been more pleased.
More than the title implies

This book offers far more than just another collecion of crochet stitches. It starts with an outstanding section on basic to intermediate crochet techniques, well illustarted with good diagrams Then comes a collection of fun to make Irish crochet type designs with roses and leaves, followed by a good section on motifs worked in the round. A nice selection of textured stitches, many with variations, is given with both written and symbol instructions. Color blending is covered, a nice surprise, as well as a good coverage of surface crochet and free style. The publisher should have used a better title to describe the varied contents of this book. Symbol diagrams are well done, color close-ups of stitches show lots of detail. There's a lot of bang for the buck in this volume, which has a hidden spiral binding, making it easy to use.
Amazing learning tool
