Get out of my dreams, get into my bed "Oh, that's so good...touch me right there...." The X-rated monologues coming from next door are keeping Rafe Moore up at night--all he really wants is some sleep. How's he supposed to decompress from his EMT job when his sultry neighbor and her explicit fantasies have his blood pressure spiking? Tightly wound Joy Clarke can't explain what's brought on these sizzling "somniloquies"--about a complete stranger, no less. She's already stressed, and there is no rest from her wicked, wicked thoughts. But when Rafe discovers that the object of all that steamy sleep-talk is him, he's set to make her dreams come true. Problem is, in the light of day Joy doesn't recall a thing
Rafe Moore is on vacation/mental health leave from his EMT job back East. He can't sleep normally and now with his neighbor X-rated monologues all night long he has just enough. He confronts Joy Clarke about talking but she denies that she has any late night vistors. Rafe and Joy have a immediate connection and sparks fly. Fun story of two people and turning point in their lives. Enjoy ! Rafe Moore has come to California to recuperate and relax while house sitting for a friend. As a NYC EMT, Rafe's job is high stress and high action. Unfortunately, a job he once passionately loved has become a burden and is putting his coworkers in danger. Rafe is burnt out and needs a break. He is suffering from insomnia and needs all the sleep he can get. Unfortunately, his neighbor, Joy Clarke, is making things very difficult. Night after night, Rafe hears Joy's cries of pleasure and release as she explores her sexual nature. Rafe needs to sleep and heck, it is a bit embarrassing to listen to her every night, not to mention arousing. When he confronts her about it though, she vehemently denies it. Joy cannot believe what her neighbor is accusing her of doing every night. While she knows she has been having some very wild fantasies while sleeping, surely it hasn't gotten to the point where she is screaming out her pleasure. Right? Rafe is intrigued by Joy and wants to help her explore the passionate nature she seems so determined to hide. Will Joy discover true happiness in Rafe's arms, or will it just be another unsatisfying illusion? Samantha Hunter creates an amusing premise in her newest Blaze book. Fortunately, there are some serious overtones to the plot line to keep the story moving forward. Joy and Rafe both have deeper sides to explore, outside of the more intimate bedroom scenes. Rafe is looking for a new passion in life; Joy believes she is passionless. Together, they are going to explore fun, frivolity, and love. While Joy was definitely a very tightly wound character, I liked the chances she took with Rafe. They were realistic and to her character, allowing her to find some true contentment in herself and her life. Talking In Your Sleep... is a fun holiday read. There is a powerful romance here but it is backed by two characters who are equally strong and interesting, but with enough conflicts to make them more human. This is a good Christmas/holiday time read because it does not cross the line into too sappy or saccharine sweet territory. Rather, it focuses on a character growth and potential, with the holiday season used as a good backdrop to develop the rest of the story.
