This book is the author's attempt to present what is probably the most important aspect of ninjutsu in print. Of course, philosophy is very important to the ninja, but since technique is a reflection of philosophy, careful study of this book should shed some light on the ideas that were used, and are still followed today, by the "Shadow Warrior." This book is, in many ways, a companion work to the author's "Traditional Ninja Weapons." However, the present work presents many new ideas about ninjutsu, which hopefully will help the reader gain a fuller understanding of this fascinating, albeit often misunderstood, martial art. In this work, the author has outlined a general overview of taijutsu while remaining as true as possible to the art's traditional form. There are, of course, many special cases that have not been included in the book because of space considerations. As always, the author would like to extend his thanks to the many instructors and training partners that have made this book possible.
This book is utterly, awesome, for lack of a better word. The first section you will find is some text about philosophy, martial artist's style, Taijutsu, and how to approach training. This is helpful, and quite lengthy. Although you will be able to relate to this section with your ideas of martial arts. Make sure you read this. Next you will find very descriptive pictures on how to do basic stances, as well as some pictures where he purposefully "mis-stances" to show you how not to position yourself. If you want to become proficient with these, just stand in your room, or a space convenient in front of a body mirror and imitate them. Right off the bat after that is a weird jungle mix of strikes, blocks, kicks, grappling and controlling, rolling, falling and more techniques. Frankly this is a minor inconvenience and is not a big deal. Break out the sticky-notes and just label some pages. That's really it, one review I looked at commented on how there was a conflict in the title and picture of the book. Just don't judge a book by it's cover, and the saying defiantly applies here. This book is a must have.
the best print media demo of taijutsu

this book's purpose is to demonstrate taijutsu for the uninitiated and to describe the differences in its training and more well known martial arts. If you think you've seen ninjutsu in the movies I should mention I have never seen anyone in a "ninja suit" do even one taijutsu move. If you want to see the real stuff get this book.
very helpful for every martial art student

This about 150 pages book brings a fine review of ninjutsu applied to a popular streetcombat and not only (defending against sword) situations. Well prepared, short descriptions but photos instead of'em are very informative. In my opinion this is great book, but not for the beginners. But anyway, if you have a little practice in any martial art you'll find this as very valuable addition. As I've found.
