As innocent as she is idealistic, Amelia Dempsey arrives in Michigan knowing nothing of life in this untamed land or of the Indian people she has come to help. She immediately clashes with Daniel... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Amelia Dempsy comes to the frontier with her father who is a doctor. They settle at a mission in Michigan and treat all Whites and Indians alike. Daniel Trahern does not like her on sight. He classifies her as another White out to "civilize the savages". He could not have been more wrong. The Ojibwa (Chippewa) and the Sioux are natural enemies. When the Sioux attack the mission and kidnap Doc Dempsy, Daniel takes Amelia in and calls upon his friends in the Ojibwa to help get him back. ***Full of adventure! The author lets you go into the Ojibwa village and learn a few customs. As a reader, I did not feel like strangling each of the main characters. That is a big plus to me! A great story with real problems from the past and hard solutions. Don't miss this one!***
