Engrossing characters

I read Thom Lemmons' new book, Sunday Clothes, in the span of a few short hours. His characters jumped straight off the page and into my psyche. I became/identified with/detested/cried for/rejoiced with the characters at various steps of the journey. I think anybody who reads this book will think they know somebody in this book: "Oh man, that's my grandma to a t," "My sister's first husband was just like that," etc. Kudos to Broadman & Holman for publishing this author; long may Thom Lemmons write!
