I feel like I have been on a vacation!

I was given this book by a friend who knew the author and his wife and I have enjoyed reading it and I wish I could go to the Island to meet the wonderful characters. It says a lot that people from all over the world came to their island paradise and everyone had different backgrounds and they all became such good lifetime friends. A great read to get away and remind yourself how precious life is and how we should not take for granted the friendships we make along the way

They are the new owners of a split-level house overlooking a picturesque, long harbour in the Canadian Gulf Islands. The wife believes the island to be an Eden and convinces her reluctant husband to buy what she calls "their dream house." They soon realize that they can't afford the increasing property taxes, maintanance costs plus mortgage payments; they decide to rent the house to cover expenses. Fire, frustration, legal entanglements, tenants bordering on derangement and the couples discord over the house lurk like a serpent in the grass. The constant help of islanders, the wildlife, and the pristine beauty keep the couple returning. In their returning to trials, joys, misfortures and adventures an enduring journey unfolds.
