The authors discuss how to connect artificial intelligencemodules to an expert system. The various techniques involve:- loosely coupling AI to the database DBMSThe reader (Joseph S. Maresca) believes that a loose couplingof AI to the DBMS permits easier customizations if furtherchanges are planned "down the road".- extend DBMS with AI functionalityThe reader believes that this method has value. It will beeasier to change the artificial intelligence algorithm simplyby changing the AI function with minimal impact to the DBMS.- extend AI systems so that they have DBMS functionality-tightly integrate DBMS and AI capabilityThe reader believes that this method has a disadvantage ininstances where it becomes necessary to seek furthercustomizations of the DBMS. In addition, it is harder to testthis model because any customizations to the AI adverselyimpacts the whole system including the DBMS.A frame is defined as a data structure to describe attributes,constraints and the type of an object or class.
