Stitches: New Approaches is a reprint of a book published in 1985. It is not intended to be a comprehensive stitch dictionary, but rather, a guide to what can be done with a stitch and some imagination. Each stitch has a large number of photographs, all in black and white. I would have loved to have seen the original works in color, but the black and white images focus on the stitch as well as the texture. There is also advice on developing a design, starting from sketching. This is intended as a design text, so there are no patterns included. The goal of this book seems to be to provide a solid base on which to develop a stitched design.
