This book was very chilling to me. What I couldn't stop thinking about is will we ever reach a state of paranoia that we are willing to actually give up some of our civil rights in trade for a perceived safety? I usually hate books that take place in the future but I love J.K.'s writing and took a chance. I thought it clipped right along and made me think...what if????
Definately worth reading and keeps interest throughout .

I am also confused about the disparity in the ratings of this novel. It was similar to a Patterson novel in a futuristic setting. The ending sets up for an interesting sequel. I'll be eagerly awaiting it and disappointed if it's not written.
Summer thriller

I liked this suspense, mainly because of the trail of puzzle clues scattered throughout and the setting in the future. That especially worked for me.
Great hot gripping read

I like thrillers and the premise of this one (as well as the delivery) is especially intriguing. Is it possible to live in the future in a perfect Disney World-like state -- the 51st state? No crime, everything safe. Well, of course it is not. The narrative is chilling and like other books by John Katzenbach(Mean Season, Just Cause), I stayed up all night to read it.
