I first read these books as a teenager (about 20 years ago) and can still highly recommend them. Leslie Thomas has a beautiful turn of phrase and an astute sense for character. I bought this book about 15 years ago while stationed in England and Leslie Thomas paints an outstanding picture of British Army life. A recommended read for anyone who enjoys such British authors as P.G. Wodehouse.
