Two months shy of walking down the aisle, Amy Harrington can't imagine why she's suddenly having fantasies about other men. Sure, her sex life has become, well, routine, and she's never felt more confused about her future. Is this what saying "I do" is all about? If she asked her best friends, Caitlyn and Leah, they'd say she was suffering from a potent mixture of chronic good girl syndrome and sexual code blue. Now, Amy can't help but think that maybe it's time she call off her wedding and embrace her inner bad girl. After all, brilliant and beautiful Caitlyn is clearly at peace with her naughty side, and nature girl Leah is so obsessed with her job she doesn't even need a man. Little does Amy realize that things aren't exactly perfect for her two best friends either. Before anything gets too topsy turvy, Amy, Caitlyn, and Leah head off to a gorgeous spa in Mexico, where they plan to bond, get in touch with nature, and transform themselves into sexy, skinny vixens. What they don't realize is that this last hurrah could signal an exciting new beginning for each of them. . .
I have been a fan of Ms. Alan's for a while now. She writes a variation of chick lit in which you could picture yourself being a part of the story. It is reasonable, plausible, and is something that you can actually relate to. A lot of chick lit by other authors involves ridiculous scenarios, including some scenes that border on porn. I could envision myself on the Spa Vacation, which was part of its appeal. My favorite book by this author was Girls' Global Guide to Guys, another female-friends-getting-away-from-it-all story. Supportive friends in league with one another always makes for a good read.
More than Chick Lit

This was a great story of a thought-provoking summer/vacation read. The three best friends all face their own challenges and doubts and learn from each other via their differences. All three were very likable and showed how seeing other infrequently does not have to weaken friendships. The way that the story is presented from all three women's points of view adds to it's charm and meaning...Would definitely recommend this to others.
