Something in the Water by Jule McBride is one of the best Harlequin Blaze books that I've read. It is about Ariel Anderson who returns to her hometown of Bliss, West Virginia as a reporter for a TV station. She is doing a TV segment on the town of Bliss. There is a backstory about the town of Bliss having strange periods in time where the town people experience a week of euphoria where they lose their sexual inhibitions and how there used to be a reported witch who lived in Bliss back in the 1700's who made magical teas. She is one of Ariel's ancestors. Lots of people in town believe Ariel's relatives to be witches who can make these same teas. They run a bed and breakfast inn, but other than that, they keep to themselves. Ariel left town several years back because of the rumors about her family, but also because of the "bad-girl" rumors about herself that were circulating. One of the townspeople calls the CDC concerned that the love bug has hit the town again. CDC doctor, Rex Houston, comes to Bliss to investigate and see if a virus is causing this phenomenon. When he gets there and meets Ariel, it is just like the love bug has bitten them both. There is an instant attraction between them. They can't seem to keep their hands off of each other. Is it the love virus that Rex is investigating or is something else going on between them? This is a great story with some mystery, a great backstory, interesting characters, awesome chemistry between the hero and heroine, and some hot and heavy romance. 5 stars!
