Welcome to the world of Social Climbers. A funny novel that is cleverly illustrated much like The Official Preppy Handbook. A must read for the aspiring preppy socialite. Hailed as the preppy bible,... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I read this book when it first came out but I'm just getting around to writing a review. Social Climbers is a must read! For any of you aspiring Socialites-Social Climbers is a how to guide! While it is a fiction novel the illustrations and lists remind me of The Official Preppy Handbook-just updated for our century. I heart this novel. I had an opportunity to meet the author, she is sweet and truly dedicated to charity. She has donated many copies of her novel to a variety of charities I support. Social Climbers makes a beautiful gift, coffee table book and just a great read when you want to get away from it all and laugh!

This book is not only a fun read but it teaches young women about etiquette, fashion, and socializing among other things. Thanks, Beth, for writing a book that is almost a non-fiction book. Beth celebrates women. What other way to communicate and explain 'la vita bella' than to write about it. ...Social Climbers is a fun read with a sustainable and useful message.

Perfect Escape!

I had a blast reading this book!!! It was a total escape for me! I found it to be hilarious, witty & charming. I loved the acronyms and the "lists" in the book, especially "SC's Secret Services". The characters were very ammusing--who hasn't met (and loathed) a "Kitty"? Allegra was my personal favorite due to her hysterical one liners. Elizabeth was likeable and very down to earth despite her SC-ing (and I concluded that SCing really isn't a bad thing...as long as it is done in a classy & respectful way). I also enjoyed Elizabeth's views & insights on many things--some very similar to my own despite me being "MC" :-) I loved reading all of the details about her spa trip, her rituals for getting ready to go out (the best was when she was getting ready to be a "fill in" for a photo shoot), the awesome parties she creatively planned, as well as the logistics of being on committees. I could go on & on. I devoured it all up! I would love to see a sequel to this book. I am sort of missing the characters and reading Elizabeth's observations about things like "lock jaw" :-)
Drama in a class all of its own!

Drama...If you love to read blogs or even better-- a personal journal, this is the novel for you! The book harmoniously combines elements of a modern day preppy hand book, fiction and nonfiction. Whether you are from Philladephia or another social climbing community, you will be able to relate to the often back-stabbing characters who are well-defined and come to life. You will not want to put down this hot new novel!
