Sneaker is a kick-ass Soul Retriever on a risky personal mission. She must descend into Hell to rescue her friend Slip, also a Soul Retriever, and Nandi, the soul sent down by Purgatorial error she went down to retrieve. The dangers are relentless. Sneaker and Nandi, must travel to the headwaters of the River Styx to find a demon doctor with a cure.
The road blocks are many: A massive lovesick serpent, a pissed off Scorp, a hungry Mudfish, a greedy Crawly farmer, and a long-thought-dead boyfriend who kidnaps her and sets her afloat in a demon filled swamp.
Cure in hand, with time running out, they have to survive more roadblocks on the return trip. The cure stops the poison in Slip's body, but will not repair the internal damage. After watching two souls fall in love, they leave for Heaven Gate.
With help from the Princess and the Tiger, they carry Slip over a mountain and down to Heaven Gate while fighting Hell's relentless dangers and a new set of creatures, one with a long, unpleasant memory of Sneaker.
Can Sneaker and Nandi, with the help of souls and demons met on the way, make it to the River Styx headwaters and back in time to save Slip's life and reach the elusive Heaven Gate?
