My all time favorite baby gift

This is my favorite gift to a new baby. It has lovely renditions of lullabies and lasts for an hour! I hope I am able to purchase it for a long time.

Great Lullaby CD

I first bought this Lullaby CD while on vacation and used it to calm and soothe a crying infant while we were driving in the car (which usually happens when it gets dark out). After that I would keep it in a CD player (with remote) and play it for him when he was especially fussy (and I'd twice sung every song I knew), until he dozed off to sleep and then I would use the remote to shut it off. I now have two very energetic boys, 2 and 4, who occasionally want to stay up even after storytime, so on those days I pop in the CD and within a few minutes they're off to dreamland. Truth is, after a few minutes even I fall asleep. The first part of the CD has all the songs with music and lyrics, the other half has only the music, no singing. This is useful because you can choose to play only those with the music, depending on how tired your little ones are. There is one song on the CD that plays at a higher volume than the others but that is where my remote comes in handy...I can gradually decrease the volume. Yes, it does create an artificial bedtime environment, but it saves my sanity. This CD was useful enough to me that when my first copy got badly scratched, I bought another one.

I love this book/cd!

I rec'd this as a gift for my now-10-month old back when he was about 3 or 4 months old, and I use it every night. I buy it as a gift for everyone I know who has a new baby, since the cd is great, and plays 10 lullabies with words, and then the same 10 songs without the words, and goes for about 30 mins. The artwork in the book is adorable, and the pages are cardboard, so they withstand the grabbing that little hands do. I strongly recommend this book as a gift or for any parent.

Excellent book/CD combo for my toddler

This book and CD has been a favorite with my 3 year old since we got it several months ago. She listens to it several times each day, flipping the pages of the book to match the song as it plays. She has learned all the lyrics to each song and when she takes the book to bed with her each night sings the songs from bed (no CD allowed at bedtime). I recommend this book to anyone with a child who likes music (and this CD is soothing to parents' ears as well--I actually enjoy listening to it too).
