This guide to what is surely the world's oldest cooking method covers all the basics novices need to get started and gives experienced outdoor cooks plenty of tips. Fabulous recipes and an in-depth... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is a small pocket sized cookbook and while there are fewer recipes for your dollar compared to other grill books or the myriad of other BBQ cookbooks out there, it comes with a surprisingly good number of recipes for its 95 pages. I am the owner of many BBQ grill books, including many of the most popular from Weber, to Paul Kirk to Steve Raichlen; and while there are better ones out there, this is worthwhile. The rubs and marinades are all really good. Use the best ingredients (duh !). The highlights for me are the shrimp recipe, mesquite grilled sword fish and texas BBQ sauce. This is a fine gift for a novice griller. Its not too overwhelming. Its got many good pictures of the recipes and it covers the spectrum to meet everyone's tastes. The vegetable mixed grill for example, is a great dish for vegetarians. The spice rub for meat is a wonderful way to introduce someone into the BBQ world of making your own spice rubs, just dont use it on New York steak. What you wont get it is a dissertation on the myriad different cuts of beef and pork, or a thousand lamb recipes (although you do get a few). I would consider this a perfect addition to a BBQ gift basket, partly based on the size (roughly 4" wide x 9" tall).
