Over one thousand people gathered in St. Louis in the summer of 1993 for the Shaping Our Future symposium. Their purpose in gathering was to discuss the structure and mission of the Episcopal Church for the twenty-first century, and to identify ways of changing that structure if the church's mission is impeded by it. Ninety-three dioceses and five nations were represented, and those invited to present papers included people from varying aspects of the church's life and ministry. The papers included in this volume are offered to the church for ongoing reflection and prayer as its questions raised at the symposium and to encourage the spread of the kingdom of God. --- from book's dustjacket
