There is one prior review listed for Arno Karlen's Sexuality and Homosexuality. It is negative and includes misinformation. May I clear it up? Please bear with me with an open mind. I understand the first reviewer's sentiments, but would like to correct some misconceptions. I knew Karlen while he was writing this book. He was NOT a psychotherapist YET, as you infer in your review, he was just a writer. He was one of the open-minded people I'd met of our generation regarding homosexuality. He was just a curious researcher with an good eye and a mouth to describe what he saw, and he cared about people. If anyone first began to undestand homosexuality as a condition of human existence, and NOT as an aberation of nature, it was Arno Karlen. He "GOT IT." Maybe he wrote his book a few years too soon, but he was a pioneer. He was not trying to pidgeon-hole homosexuals into an aberational category. He was trying to open the door to the possibility that homosexuality is normal to all species, even ours. He was one of the first thinkers to recognize this fact. Don't be so mad at him. Read the book again. It was written over 3 decades ago, and yet the inklings of truth are in there. Put aside your anger, and recogize a pioneer.
