From daypacks for hiking to everyday grocery totes, bags are an essential accessory for life on the go. In this inspiring guide, Lexie Barnes shows you how to create handmade bags that provide customized functionality while showcasing your own personal style. With step-by-step instructions for 18 pattern-free projects that include drawstring sacks, handbags, and messenger bags, Barnes encourages you to experiment with bold fabrics, hand-picked materials, and purpose-tailored dimensions to create fashionably unique bags that are suitable for your individual needs.
I purchased the book, made most of the projects and then took off designing my own stuff. Ms Barnes covers all of the basics thoroughly and it got me re-engaged in sewing. I noticed one reviewer was unhappy because s/he felt the book was too basic. Even if you are an experienced sewer (like me) the book is a wonderful springboard to advance beyond the projects, which is what I did. There are opportunities to make creative gifts quickly.

Excellent - Beautiful Ideas

This book is beautiful!! It has a lot of ideas for bags - Basic bags- nothing fancy. But a lot of the ideas can be used for gifts. You may want to go to the library first before you buy as it only has basic bags but where I find it worth the money is that directions are clear and some ideas are creative but nothing too fancy. It kind give an appreciation for beautiful homemade stuff.
