How the insistence on truth is central towards understanding the requirements of freedom and leaders

Gandhi was not what I would call a revolutionary because at his core, I believe he was a reformist. He believed that the hearts and minds of evil means, could be reformed into humanitarians. I do not share in this kind of delusional mind set, however that does not mean that Gandhi was not a brilliant man and leader. Gandhi was a man who acted and moved towards what he believed. He wanted his people to be free, and he understood the duty of leadership & the true definition of freedom. Gandhi is not a man I would follow, however he is a man that should be studied and understood by any and all who care about the betterment of mankind (in terms of understanding what freedom and leadership should require, especially when your opposition is western imperialism and colonialism).
Gandhi believed it was the duty of those who have realized the evil of any oppressive system, to actively and openly preach disloyalty towards that system and or government. He said, “it is their clear duty to run any risk to achieve the end” which is “by any means necessary” with different words. He had the ideas of a revolutionary, but the mindset of a reformist. So, you should read this book, for his revolutionary ideas, thoughts, and understandings of his peoples’ true opposition (aka British imperialism and colonialism).
Satyagraha literally means insistence on truth (and while I don’t agree with Gandhi on many things), I do think his commitment to finding and understanding truth created real substance in his political writings. I highly recommend this book!!!
