As a teacher, I have recommended this book to several parents who want to better understand their son's learning needs. Tracey's book is easy to grasp, yet full of practical and useful information to help parents support their child's journey towards reading. I appreciate her positive, caring attitude towards busy boys!
Excellent advise, well written.

Tracey Wood is obviously pretty knowledgeable about reading difficulties and kids in general, but you also get the strong sense that she has a genuine liking for kids. I liked that I didn't feel preached at or condescended to, whilst at the same time she doesn't use much educational jargon. It was pitched exactly at moms with kids, and gave great practical suggestions for improving boys' reading - though I'm sure the program would be suited to girls too. I've started the exercises with my son, so far with fantastic results - can't recommend this book too highly!

It's a great help for parents that are concerned that something needs to be done but aren't sure what to do. Don't wait - get this book and get started. I found the suggestions to be practical and easy to understand. I also really liked the real-life stories. The author obviously has a lot of experience and it was nice to know that other people have dealt with the same problems.

This was a great book.Anyone that has a child that has trouble in school will find so much in this book that is helpful. It gives step by step guidance on how to find a tutor or how to be one yourself. It not only teaches you what to teach but how to teach too.Tracey Wood really cares about these kids and you can see it all throughout the book.I especially liked the section on when kids have troubles in school.Inattention and being a class clown are ways kids act out their difficulty with reading.I would definately recommend this book.
Great Book for Parents Whose Child is Struggling to Read

This is a great book for parents whose child is struggling with reading. In my experience, teachers are not prepared to offer guidance to parents whose child is having difficulty learning to read. "Just read 20 minutes a day", they say. The author, Tracey Wood, wastes no time getting right to the point, does your child have a reading problem? She then proceeds, with clearly written steps and advise, on how to teach your child to read. I wish I had this book back when my child was in the first grade!
