This is the isbn+picture of book 1 (**) but the title of book 2 (***) so here's both:

Book 1 = Pain and Pleasure: A view of 2005 from the eyes of 1987 was the hook but it floundered. The populace-polarized setting was interesting and gave a fun nod to Wells' underground types from "The Time Machine" and for the years it was written it was an overdue female lead with a three-dimensional partner of under-represented nationality. All the rest, excepting a few solid plot choices, was contrived and/or absurd. Albert Val, the artist who left mid-way through the book, rendered the characters MUCH better. ______________________ Book 2 = Feast and Famine: MUCH BETTER! Jones saves his story with some REALLY funny stuff: The goofy villains with a taste for the loooong pig made the entire book worth reading regardless of the rest! *Those of you who find that flavor of evil unsavory needn't worry about this easily palatable portion offending your delicacies* Jones saves his story with great laughs- REALLY funny stuff: The goofy villains with a taste for the loooong pig made the entire book make this worth reading regardless of the rest! The characters improve and the absurdity of plot works for it this time for most of the book. Davis seems like a quality illustrator but he's just not for this cast. Other than two or three black women nearly all his females either look too much like the main character or have a surprisingly male body that clearly wasn't intended as was the case with a couple Playmates. He does draw a great range of males and has great command of their movement and especially facial expressions! The writer AND artist introductions were a VERY wise move that did an excellent job of giving the reader desperately needed perspective. Knowing what an author and/or artist are intending is vital to a work in progress like this where various clarifications we desperately needed. I expect that this series improved, maybe even excelled, as the title continued through another three or four books worth of issues but I only bought these first two sold together so this is all I'll have for now.
