Excellent for electronics technicians, off-base for engineers

This book is intended to be a supplement to any textbook covering electronic communications from an electronic technician's perspective. The prerequisites for using this book include basic courses in DC and AC circuit analysis and the theory of operation of electronic devices, all from a technician's viewpoint. For example, most of the problems involve simple circuit analysis, such as calculating quantities such as the resonant frequency in the case of tuned LC circuits, and in the case of the chapter on amplitude modulation, problems include those on calculating the modulation factor and percent modulation of a signal given a particular AM wave. These are not generally tasks required of engineers. If you are an engineer and you are looking for a supplement on electronic communication, try "Schaum's Outline of Analog and Digital Communications". It has much deeper coverage of the theory behind communications systems as well as the elements of design of such systems, including random processes and error correction. Thus, if you are an electronics technician or you are enrolled in a two-year technical college and are studying to be one, this outline will hit the mark in helping you with your studies. If you are an engineering student, this book will be far too simplistic for your needs. I highly recommend this outline for the correct audience.
