Excellent Read!

Andrea Kane is on Fire!!! I was more than pleasantly surprised since this is one of her earliest books and she still managed to make an outstanding job at it! I am a fan of Mystery/Romance books and have read more than my fair share. After reading this book (as well as her other books), all I can say is that you are missing out if you haven't read one... I have a feeling Ms. Kane will go far... If you are looking for the perfect blend of Mystery and Romance then Andrea Kane is what you need :-)

A romantic suspense about family and intrigue

Carson Brooks, nearing 50 and a successful perfume magnate, is shot from behind in his office by an unknown assailant. Luckily, his friend and protege and corporate counsel, Dylan Newport, is working late and is able to call the ambulance and get help. On the way to the hospital as Carson fears he is dying, he asks Dylan to be sure to finish finding if there was a child from a sperm donation he made 27 years ago. Stan Hager the COO of Carson's company Ruisseau Fragrance also knows of the sperm donation as he worked at the fertility clinic at the time. He helps Dylan to quickly find out and then locate the child of that donation, Sabrina Radcliffe. Carson is NOT, as many reviewers missed here, trying to find Sabrina for a kidney -- he didn't even know he needs a kidney yet when he was shot. Carson wants to find a child if he/she exists as he is getting older and realizes he has missed out on the normal wife, children, etc. that he would have had. Carson has a girlfriend of just over a year, Susan, who operates a charity that helps teenagers with tutoring and scholarships and that Carson donates generously to. Dylan after looking in on Carson and seeing that while he is weak he is fighting, flies to New Hampshire to meet up with Sabrina at her offices. Sabrina is a corporate management consultant and a chip off the old block, so to speak. Her mother and grandparents are of a very old and highly respected family in Boston. Sabrina and Dylan have very different backgrounds and approaches to life but one thing that have in common is honesty and frankness. Sabrina agrees to meet Carson but reserve judgement on whether, if it is needed, she will be tested to see if she could be a kidney donor. As Carson gets Sabrina more involved in his life and his company and as Dylan and others become more involved in her life as well, Sabrina begins to see things in a different light and to also bring her unique business and personal perspective to the company and Carson's personal life. Danger soon surrounds her and Dylan and as the mysteries are resolved, the two of them grow closer. A great read.

Danger's scent stalks as murder beckons

In this terrific drama and thriller, Carson Brooks, millionaire owner of a perfume company is almost shot to death and must decide if a youthful business deal that got him the funds to start his company -- namely, being a sperm donor for a socialite -- led to fatherhood. He discovers to his pleasure, Sabrina Radcliffe, a management consultant of clout, is his daughter. However, Sabrina is not as pleased to learn her father's identity and finds no reason to have a relationship with someone whose only part in her life up to that point is to donate DNA that created her. A series of close calls of murder and a handsome lawyer who tries to get Sabrina to see her "father" and then falls in love with her bring spice to the plot. A joyful read.

Buy it - turn down the pages of your favorite sections and reread them later. What a great escape!

Very Good Read

This is the kind of book you think you have all the characters figured out (who done it) and then you find later on they are eliminated. The story between the main characters, Sabrina and Dylan, ... keeps your interest throughout the book. The overall story line of a child from a sperm bank finding out who her father is and without any hesitation accepts this father, is alittle hard to accept. However, the overall suspense is worth the read. This is a great book to think you have all the answers, who did what to whom, and then you are pleasantly surprised. The only thing I would change would be to go into more detail about why the villian does what they did, i.e. attempted murder, murder, arson, etc. I can't wait for the next Andrea Kane mystery.
