She is a distinguished member of the International Society of Poets winning the Editors' Choice Award in 1996 and 1997. Elizabeth has been an activist against opencast mining for the last 15 years, supporting the campaign against Ffos Y Fran and the campaign against Nant Llesg with UVAG which was victorious in September 2018. Her poetry covers topics such as the effects that opencast mining has on local communities as well as on the land. Despite regeneration works the land will never return to its original state. It also addresses emotional scars, some of which can never heal. Scars Beneath the Landscape is Elizabeth Harding's first collection.
