Two exquisite cousins must exchange identities in a scandalous deception. Madeline de Lacy, the duchess of Magnus, prides herself on being one of the most sensible young women in England, which is why she can't believe that, in a turn of the cards, her noble father has lost his entire estate -- and her -- to a stranger. On a mission to salvage her family fortune, she changes places with her cousin and companion, sending the meeker Eleanor to confront the man who had won Madeline's hand. Now, Madeline is free to enter the home of a notorious gambler, and pretends to be meek, humble, and competent with an iron. She is, of course, none of those things; she simply is resolved to win her family's fortune back. Just when she thinks matters can't get worse, she meets Gabriel Ansell, the earl of Campion, and they do. Horribly worse. Four years ago, Madeline was engaged to Gabriel, and worshipped his arrogant kisses. Now, being forced to marry a man she doesn't know pales in comparison to the ordeal of facing Gabriel again, the man who betrayed her -- Gabriel, the only man she ever loved.
I really enjoyed this book by Christina Dodd but then I haven't read any book written by her that I haven't enjoyed. I think she puts a lot of thought into her characters. I would like to see a third book to find out what happens to Lady Thomasin.
Scandalous Again

This is the first time I have been exposed to Dodd's writing, and I couldn't keep the book down. In fact, it was such a marvelous book, I read it in one day! I cannot wait for the next book, which comes out in November. Dodd writes with so much passion and descriptive detail, you feel like you are a part of the characters, right there with them, going through all the struggles and pleasures. So enjoy, I know I did.
wonderful read!!

I have read all of Christina Dodd's books, and this one is, by far, her best to date! Scandalous Again is the tale of Madeline de Lacy, the future duchess of Magnus, and her x-fiancee, Gabriel Ansell. This is the first book in a while that I have read that the characters were so well balanced, with believable personalities and character flaws. Most times you will find in historical romances that the female is always putty in the male's hands. Not so in Scandalous Again. Maddie is very independant, and headstrong due to her fathers gambling problem, and she has a big problem trusting anyone, especially Gabriel, who is also a notorious gambler. Thoughout the story Gabriel is trying to gain Maddie's trust, and avenge his little brothers death, all the while trying to keep Maddie's secret, that she is really a duchess posing as a companion, at one of the biggest parties of the ton!! All in all, I believe anyone that reads this book will be happy they did. The little foibles that Dodd puts our heroine in make for a great read alone. Just imagine a Duchess trying to iron!
Christina Dodd does it again!!!...

Once again Ms. Dodd has written a great book. I loved reading about Madeline and Gabriel. Madeline is a strong heroine just like the rest of Ms. Dodd's heroines. Madeline keeps Gabriel on his toes through out the story and keeps the reader interested in what will happen next. The sparing between the two main characters kept things interesting and it was easy to see that these were not your usual main characters of a book. Something i greatly enjoyed seeing. I am anxiously awaiting the sequel to this story to see what happens to Eleanor who was first introduced in this book. I highly recommend this book along with any of Ms. Dodd's books. Ms. Dodd has yet again made it to my keeper list and I plan on buying Eleanor's story the moment it hits the shelves.
Fun and sexy!

This is the start of a new series which starts with Madeline the duchess finding out her father lost herand all her belongings in a card game. While going to confront her betrothed, she discovers that her father is going to play cards again while betting a precious heirloom. She trades places with her companion, Eleanor, and goes to the cardgame. I laughed out loud seeing her try to behave like a companion, and take orders from other people because Madeline is a real know-it-all. Her former fiancee is at the game, too, and he immediately plans to win her back and defeat the villain who is hosting the game. It's like an English house mystery, with everyone sneaking around at night while during the day, they pretend everything is completely normal. Of course, the sex was hot and steamy. I read the book in one sitting!
