Love this book!

This is a fantastic book for all the teenage girls on your shopping list, especially those interested in sports. As I read it, I instantly began thinking of all the parents to whom I could recommend this. The story is all about a young teenage girl making decisions to be true to herself ... only wish I would have had this to read when I was a young teenager!

Finally a sports book with a female as the main character

This book is a must read for all sports-oriented families. It touches on important issues for both parents and girls. The main character, Sara, goes through real life situations that all girls will at some point experience. It was fun to read how an influential adult helped her handle them. The other character in this book also has some tough choices to make. Hopefully this book gives girls the courage to stand up for themselves and learn to be true to themselves. I would HIGHLY recommend this book.

A Great Message for Young Readers: Be True to Yourself!

One of the great challenges in life is being true to yourself as often as you can. This is an especially important message for young readers facing pressures from peers, television shows, popular music, etc. My two daughters loved this book and it allowed us to talk about the importance of being REAL at school, in sports, etc. While the book targets sports-oriented girls, it's a good sports story that works for boys or girls. Actually, the overall theme about being true to yourself is timeless and powerful for all readers -- regardless of their age or even if they're not very interested in sports (there's also a music storyline in the book). I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Great sports book for girls

I am 11 years old. In the past I have read books by Matt Christopher and Mike Lupica. It was fun to read this book because it involved a girl and one of the sports I love. This book also taught me a good lesson. I would definitely recommend this book to other children, in fact, I did. Check it out. MAC

Highly recommended

It is refreshing to find a series for young girls who enjoy sports. My 10 yo daughter has been reading a few of the male dominated series and was thrilled to have a female character to follow. The story shows a young girl remaining true to herself as she enters a new town and school setting. The characters are realistic, games descriptions are exciting, and dilemmas are ones that our children face frequently. I would recommend this book starting at the age of 8. I would also recommend this book to any family moving to a new area. Thanks.
